Stotesbury Cup Regatta.2010
Posted May 23rd, 2010 by Lee Van GrackWashington-Lee Crew sent five of its 8 shells to Philadelphia this past weekend to compete in the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta. With 5,500 athletes, racing almost 1,000 boats from 194 schools, Stotesbury 2010 became the oldest and largest high school rowing competition in the world to date.
Weather Cuts State Championship Short
Posted May 23rd, 2010 by Lee Van GrackHigh wind conditions with gusts over 40 mph, kept the Virginia State Rowing Championships at Occoquan from completion last Saturday. The VASRA State Championships bring out almost 1,500 of the best varsity rowers from the region's top programs. However, to ensure the safety of the athletes, only the heats (events 1-31) were able to be completed. The race finals have been rescheduled for Sandy Run on Saturday, May 22.
Evening on the Potomac this Saturday

Potomac Regatta Honors W-L Crew Founder and Coach Charlie Butt
Posted April 27th, 2010 by Lee Van GrackOver one thousand rowers from DC and Virginia gathered on Saturday, April 24 for the Charlie Butt Regatta on the Potomac. The largest, annual gathering of high school shell racing on the Potomac, the Charlie Butt, is held in honor of 1949 founder and longtime coach of the Washington-Lee HS Crew and NOVA-area rowing advocate.
