The W-L Crew team is seeking sponsors for our current season

As a high school club sport, the team receives limited financial support from Arlington Public Schools, therefore, we must raise substantial funds through individual rower dues and fundraising activities. The W-L Crew Boosters are a parent-run, non-profit organization which provides financial support to the team. Funds raised are used to purchase equipment, pay competition and travel fees, and to generally support the over 100 athletes and coaches who make up the team.  You can learn more at our website and our Instagram account.

WLHS Crew is one of the oldest and most storied public high school rowing programs in the mid-Atlantic region. The team was founded in 1949 and has fielded competitive rowing teams every year since then. The Spring 2025 season will mark the 75th anniversary of the Crew program, and we are excited to celebrate our history and to continue working to build highly competitive teams into the future.

This is an especially exciting and important time in our history as we are forging a new path at the Columbia Island Marina, leaving the Potomac Boat Club after 75 years.  We are excited to create a new home for our hard-working rowers, but it requires a great investment to make a new dock, build racks and maintain our fleet of boats.

WLHS Crew has a long history of success both nationally and internationally, even to the Olympic level. Recent achievements include the following:

  • We raced 12 boats at the Virginia State championships – 10 of those boats made the finals, with 5 boats medaling (41 kids).

  • For Stotesbury, the world’s largest scholastic regatta held in Philadelphia, we had 5 boats make it to the semi-finals – girls’ junior 8, freshman 8 and junior 4, and boys’ junior 8 and junior 4x.  The boys’ junior 8 made it to the finals and finished 6th.  We also were proud to win the adaptive double race.

  • W-L alumni Michael Callahan ’92 coached the University of Washington Men’s program to a team championship at the IRAs.  He also coached the US Men’s 8 to a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.

  • Paige Wheeler ’20 represented USA at the under-23 World Championships.

  • Multiple academic achievements such as Honor Roll, National Honor Society and a grand prize at the VA Regional Science and Engineering fairs for both 2022 and 2023

  • Team volunteer efforts in support of the community such as Arlington Food Assistance Program (AFAC), Lions Club Christmas Tree Lot, Virginia Parks trail cleanup, Sandy Run River clean-up, and Potomac River Conservancy clean-up

To help us achieve our financial goals, your sponsorship will help support a variety of initiatives such as replacing aging equipment that is no longer serviceable; providing scholarships to financially needy athletes; and increasing financial assistance to our coaching staff to ensure we retain high quality coaches.

We offer the following sponsorship packages

Platinum Oar – $10,000+
  • Naming rights to a shell (8 seat boat) – subject to Board approval

  • Logo on team apparel

  • Branding on website, alumni newsletter 2x, and social media including specific thank you posts throughout the year

  • Banner with logo on regatta tents

  • Recognition Plaque for your place of business

Golden Oar – $5,000 – $9,999
Silver Oar – $2,000 – $4,999
Bronze Oar – $500 – $1,999

Any level of sponsorship is greatly appreciated and will help our team. Your sponsorship to the W-L Crew Boosters, as a 501c Non-profit organization, is also tax deductible. Our Tax ID/EIN is: #54-1966211.

Thank you for taking the time to consider sponsoring the W-L Crew. We look forward to working with you on promotion, visibility, and advertising for your company. With your help, we will be able to continue to support the W-L Crew for years to come. Please contact me via email at fundraising@w-lcrewboosters.org or at (703) 795-9053 if you would like to discuss this in further detail. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
