The majority of our away regattas, including the state championships, are held on the Occoquan at the boathouse at Sandy Run Regional Park. Please make note that this area is very spread out and involves a lot of walking. Make sure to wear good walking shoes – no sandals or flip flops. The area where the Regatta Headquarters is located includes the boat launch area, the boat trailers, the W-L team tent (where rowers hang out), and a concession area.

The race finish line and the grandstand/cheering section are located further up the river. The two areas are connected by a trail that goes through the woods – about ½ mile. The trail is a dirt path, not paved, but is a lovely walk along the river and the forest. There is also a food concession stand at the grandstand, along with bathrooms. Unfortunately, no pets permitted in the park on race days.

More on Occoquan Regattas

St. Andrew’s is a private boarding school in Middletown, Delaware. (Remember the movie Dead Poet’s Society? It was filmed there.) We only attend one regatta here each season and it includes some of the top programs in the northeast. For more information go to http://www.standrews-de.org/

St Andrew’s is about a 2 hour drive. Middletown,Delaware is approximately 1 hour from the Bay Bridge. It is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon and watch the races.

More on St. Andrew’s Regatta

The Charlie Butt Regatta is a Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association (VASRA) Regatta held annually on the Potomac in honor of legendary coach Charlie Butt. Charlie was the founder of Washington-Lee High School’s Crew program in 1949, coached our crew team for 41 years, and helped to organize many of the rowing programs in our area. This is our signature regatta of the season, so we hope parents and families can attend and participate.

For this special day, W-L Boosters will set up along the banks of Washington Harbor where we’ll host alumni, families, and friends to watch the race. We may also host families and alumni at Columbia Island Marina later that day.

More on Charlie Butt Regatta

We typically send a select group of boats to three post season regattas: Stotesbury, Nationals, and Canada (CSSRA).

The Stotesbury Cup Regatta is held annually on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The regatta, sponsored by the Schuylkill Navy, is the world’s oldest and one of the largest high school rowing competitions. Over 190 schools attend and almost 6,000 athletes compete at the high school level from the US and Canada. It is held over a two-day period – competing crews come from schools all over North America, though most hail from the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States.

For information about race schedules, directions, parking and results, visit the Stotesbury Cup Regatta website.

St. Andrew’s Regatta
