Open Houses

If enough athletes are present it is also possible to get on the water in a shell.

Swim Tests

It is rare for anyone to end up in the water, however we take safety very seriously, and swim tests are mandatory. Swim test will be held on 9/15, 9/20, 9/27, & 9/29. They start at  3pm. Dress appropriately and arrive at the poolside no later than 3:30pm. No pre-registration is necessary, just show up and look for the woman with the crew jacket.  You will need a swim suit, towel, and a (very) light pair of sweat pants and sweat shirt (No Hood). Please arrive and change promptly, then head out to the pool area. Wearing the sweats over your swim suit you  must:

  1. Swim three lengths of the pool (75 yards).
  2. Then tread water for one minute.
  3. Finally, after the minute treading water, you will be handed a life jacket which you must successfully put on.

All three items must be completed without touching the sides or bottom of the pool. You may use any stroke to complete the laps. If you have trouble we will help you! So don’t let swimming be a deterrent to joining the crew. (And almost never do boats flip, or people go in the water… this is merely for safety.)

Lastly, look for us on Facebook and Twitter: search for W-L Crew 2016-2017 on FB, and washleecrew on twitter.

Note to W-L Athletes involved in other fall sports: Unfortunately you may not participate if you are already doing another fall sport for W-L. So if you have an off day or finish early you may not come to PBC to row instead. Novices are still welcome to attend the open houses on Saturdays.
